Continuous Glucose Monitors

Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM)

What is a CGM?

  • CGM is sensor based technology that measures glucose from the interstitial fluid.
  • Takes glucose measurements at regular intervals, 24 hours a day.
  • Live data helps users make treatment decisions.
  • Users can share detailed data and trends with their healthcare team without writing anything down.

How do you use a CGM monitor?

  • A sensor is worn on the outside of the body; the sensor filament is inserted under the skin to check glucose levels in the tissue fluid.
  • The sensor is connected to a transmitter wirelessly and sends information to a display device or cell phone wirelessly.

CGM vs. Blood Glucose Meter

  • Readings from a Blood Glucose Meter are just one point in time.
  • CGM’s provide continuous monitoring which allows users to proactively manage highs and lows.
  • CGM technology does NOT require fingersticks.

We offer both the Libre and Dexcom CGM systems.  Learn more about these systems by clicking on the links here:
